The characters have wandered far to find themselves in the trading town of Hillsborrow. The previous winter was long and harsh and even now into early spring many roads remain impassable due to the conditions. Moving with a sense of purpose most of the party has found thier way here to apply in person at the Great Hall at the Grand Junction with Fuge the marvelous under the promise of 100s of gold per week.

The first to arrive was Rilldall Opee, famed halfling cheesemaker and fly by night "combat medic."  Finding his way though town it was hard to miss the Grand Hall or the long line of people coming out of it. Knowing that he may be here for while he went right into line and politely waited his turn. Which took forever. When he got to the front of the line he was asked a couple of questions and then shown into a dimly lit room (sv vs spell) were he was greeted by a formal mage name Seryth.  And behind the desk in the chair with the saucer eye; Fuge. After short polite conversation Opee walked away with a contract for 55g per week, room and board 7 days a week, and 48 hours off per week in exchange for his services as a healer.

Arriving from parts unknown a trio enter the quite town of Hilsborrow. A minotour with a pair of elves. One of the elves appears with purple hair and red lines under his eyes and down his nose. This elf's first action is to take an apple for a cart vendor near the edge of town.  Fearful of the disposition of the group, the halfling cart vendor quietly asks to be paid for the apple.  For a brief second the cart vendor is sure he is about to get killed by this elf who surprises the halfling by handing him a shiny gold coin.  The other elf who dose not share the features of the first scoffs at this interchange and his surrounding in general.  There appears to be something "too common" about the area they are in for this other elf's taste. He is eager to see what is hear to gain or move along. It doesn't take them long to the Hall. Or the line.

Good News! The line doesn't apply to these three.

Using the minotour as leverage the two elves find themselves at the front of line. In awe of the spectacle the receptionist have no choice but to listen to Baru explain how the line does in fact not apply to any being of his calibur. The person who was in mid interview was not amused and very loudly made a point to let the room know these people were trying to cut.  Not aided by the fact that most of the room was looking at the minotour from the moment they walked in it was impossible to stop a public outcry! And soup was launched. And then Glidden launched those who launched soup. And thing were just about to come to a head as "Drake" the human barbarian openly defied Glidden and in that moment a well placed spell of "calm chaos" stopped what was sure to be a bloody confrontation.

While all that happened, Baru did get to see Fuge and Seryth. They were less than pleased and told Baru to be on his way - that they could not employ him or his group. Baru made sure to let them know it was clearly not his loss. Walking out Baru collected his party to the jeering of the room and left the Great Hall at the Grand Junction.

Later, after plans were formed, minions hired, children played with, fruit vendors accosted, rooms rented at inns, food options explored, general meet and greet between paladins and priests, and joining the end of the line the party in gathered up by Lurk, an obvious rogue.  He approaches Glidden and offers gold for his muscle in slaying a green dragon. Lurk find Opie walking in the street and asks him right there if he was the "combat medic." Opie followed Lurk. Once in the alley Lurk has gathered Drake from the soup fight, Glidden who had no hard feelings for the time being, and Oppie. After discussing employing more help the group disperses to meet again in the alley in 15 minutes.

This time in alley it is Glidden, Baru, Kyoji, Brother Oppie, Shadow, Lurk, and Leonair the Paladin. Drake does not return.  Lurk tells the group that the dragon is 35 miles away, it could be a 12 hour walk, and he seemed in a hurry. The party agrees after a short discussion to go with Lurk and he leads the way.

10 1/2 hours later the group arrives at the construction site.  It  was early evening but getting dark fast. In the shadows up ahead they see three figures as the party comes out of the forest.  Two hundred and fifty experience points to your sheet if you are reading this. It was Seryth, Fuge in his wheel chair, and Rupert waiting for the group. Rilldall Opee walks over and greets the mages. Lurk whispers to Shadow.  Lurk wants to kill the Mages. Seryth proposes 2000 gold per person for killing the dragon. Glidden offers his ass for a kiss. Seryth offers 2000 and work contracts for anyone who wants one after the dragon is dead. Baru reminds Seryth that he didn't need his services earlier. Seryth offered 2500 per person, working contracts, and an apology.

Deal!!

Lurk said now would be a great time to kill the mage.

  1. The Soup Fight was not Baru's Fault. He can't help that simpleton peasants can't have a reasonable discussion and choose to throw their food when they are mad.
